Sexual Harassment in India
Our project is about Sexual Harassment in India. Unfortunately, this is nothing new and actually really common. On this page you will find more information about sexual harassment in India.
Why is it so important?
According to "Hindustantimes" India reported more than 400 sexual harassment cases at work places. This was reported every year between 2018 and 2022. This is only at work places, you can imagine how many that are in the whole country This number is way to high and normalized and therefore we find it important to act on this now!

Why can't all women talk about it when sexual harassment happened to them?
Sexual Harassment can happen in any form and in any place. Most women are scared after something like this happened to them. Not only are they scared but sometimes they are also not allowed to talk about it. This can lead to serious mental health issues! Therefore, we from SAIndia find it really important that women can talk about it and in this way try to progress it.
Our name SAIndia stands for multiple things SA stands for sexual assault. SAI stand for "say" which means talk about it and speak up! With this name we hope that more women are willing to talk about what happened to them.

What is already done to help the women in India?
According to "desem.gov.in" the punishment for committing sexual harassment can be a fine up to Rs. 1,000,00 (1.090,69000 euro) or imprisonment up to 3 years, or both. Not all cases are reported and therefore not everyone is or can be punished.
